decided to work a little backwards here, i have finished the rig hopefully I'm going to stick to it and not re design it in 3 days time next step the dreaded unwrapping :) enjoy.

update
just a quick one though, it now has hand :O or rather i borrowed them off of one of my other mechs and scaled them down to fit, they need a little work regardless but they look pretty good :)
added an extra light to the scene to help the mech pop off the background, earlier images had areas where the mesh was blending into the background.

Poseable? :O
worked on the fire moth a fair bit the last couple of nights
and its now pose-able its still not 100% complete still need to model knee caps
and hands and improve on the missile launchers. but here's an image to see it
in a dashing pose enjoy :P

Warhawk update
small update on the Warhawk, been refining the high poly mesh to bake normals much better which turns out i had a small problem with the UV's. so i had to go back and flip the legs in the UV space, since there mirrored the UV where also mirrored which put the normals facing the wrong way in the UV space. since i had to go back i thought I would refined the missile rack also after my friend told me it look ridiculously tall. its now a lot more compact no but still needs a little work. enjoy :P

House Hold Clutter
so while I'm working on the Warhawk, I decided to show off something different form the usual mechs and what not, I'm planning on making several house hold items that can be used to populate a level here's the first item, a small radiator.
I decided to make this to the Unreal 4 scale this is the high poly mesh which will be used to bake a normal map onto the low poly mesh.

last post tonight
so I gotten some low res normals out of the mode and they look decent enough, I just need to tidy up the projection cage and chamfer a few edges and then I can bake off a higher res normal map :)

Cage Example
The image above is just an example of a messy cage modifier, I'm looking to get the whole thingy clean up for the end of the week, if not the end of the weekend.

getting ready to bake
had to separate the mesh so that i can get decent normals from the high poly, took forever to separate this mesh out and now my arms are killing :D

yet another update.
so i reckon i have a good balance with the paneling on this mech, hopefully it wont look ridiculous or over the top when I'm done with it :)
Quick update
I'm starting to struggle a bit with detailing the torso. I'm trying to find something different then inserts and extrudes, I'm trying to limit the amount of paneling because i feel it just looks lazy and it's too easy to accomplish. so I'm going to be taking a while to work out some detail for the torso maybe work in the mechs equipment into the mesh visually and have a heat sink exhaust port on its rear left side.

some high poly work
started to hammer out some detail on the warhawk so i can bake some nice normal maps and ambient maps, so far its looking good I'm just trying to figure out which lower legs i prefer to use for the final bake.

back at it
so I'm picking up where I left off with the Warhawk, I got the mesh
unwrapped and ready to paint on it, which I have already started a base texture
for the bulk of the base is done, just needs a little cleaning to hide some bald
patches that I have missed when I was painting it.

Game engines
Recently i have been looking into some game engines, to have a play around with. one of them was "Source 2" a vast improvement over the older source engine tools, i managed to get a new mesh with textures into the editor fairly easy.

just a couple of WIP
not updated for a bit, thought id sling these 2 images up that I'm working on. I'm putting the crab on hold for a while i work out some designs for the arms.
these where both modeled years ago using Lightwave 3D i have decided to bring them back, give them a clean up and adding some better detail, as well as unwrapping and texturing the two.
the warhawk has seen much more extensive re-modeling and cleaning, the torso lower arms legs and feet are completely new mesh. since both mechs share the same leg design these changes where added to the dire wolf.

Dire Wolf
Right now the Dire Wolf's lower arms head and lower side torsos have been re modeled, the new mesh is a lot cleaner then the original which helping with the cockpit detail. the lower arms have been cleaned up and getting ready for some minor details as well as the weapon points.
